REVIEW OF THE BOOK – THE POWER OF SELF-CONFIDENCE

The Power of Self Confidence is a great book that would make one becomes unstoppable, irresistible and unafraid in every area of your life. The book is a self development and enhancement one.

The book started with an introduction titled “Entering the No Fear Zone” with an inspiring quote by Bruce Barton “Nothing splendid has ever been achieved excepted by those who dared believed that something inside of them was superior to circumstance”. The book is a seven (7) chapter book written in a an easier language for a better understanding.

The chapter 1 of the book is titled –The Foundation of Self-Confidence. This gave prominence that becoming what one wants is a function of positive thinking. It further opined that our inner positive thoughts including personal values will advance our self-confidence in our career. The quote by William Shakespeare quoted by the author captures it all “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”.

Chapter 2 is on Purpose and Personal Power. This chapter builds in one the personal values inculcating self-confidence built around one’s thought process. This chapter amongst others discussed issues like; The Law of Attraction, The Law of Correspondence, The Law of Concentration, The Law of Substitution, The Power of Decision etc.

Chapter 3 is on Achieving Competence and Personal Mastery. The chapter begins with a quote by Vince Lombardi “The quality of a person’s life is indirect proportion to their commitment to excellence, no matter what their chosen field”. This chapter deals greatly on diverse personal development that aid self-confidence. These includes finding your true place, building your self-esteem, developing our heart desire, building courage, identifying one’s skill etc.

The Inner Game of Self-Confidence is the topic on chapter 4 espoused by the author informing the readers that confidence enables one to act boldly in the face of uncertainty. The chapter covers areas including the law of belief, the power of belief, the power of suggestion, the power of self suggestion, positive talk etc.

In chapter 5, the author discusses on Capitalizing on Your Strengths. In this chapter, he posited that our core value is very important. He pointed out that we should amongst others consider these areas; your area of excellence, choosing the right field, developing courage, following your heart, being honest with yourself, developing strength and residence etc are all considered in this chapter as factors that builds self-confidence.

Chapter 6 is on triumphing over adversity, in which the author identified the values of building self-confidence which are persistence, the reality habit, the text of character, learning from every failure etc.

Chapter 7 which is the last chapter is titled-Self Confidence In Action. The chapter gave one tremendous advice towards identifying our limiting step and developing the capacity to eliminate same is one of the best to demonstrate competence in achieving anything you want. The chapter further identified that we should further build our self-confidence through trying more things, talent development, the four D’s of success and self-confidence, five essential success qualities etc.

Finally, Brian Tracy an author, conference speaker and consultant in this book provided an in-depth knowledge on how one could develop his personality through building his self-confidence.
